How does Profhilo® work?
Profhilo® is injected into the skin using a series of tiny injections. “There are 5 Bioaesthetic Points (BAP) per half of the face, for a total of 10 injection points for the whole face,” explains Dr. Maximin Navarro, resident dermatologist at Bella Pelle Skin Solutions and a Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) fellow. The procedure usually takes one to one and a half hours, including the application of topical anesthesia (around 45 minutes). Once the treatment is injected, it spreads through the skin like a honeycomb, stimulating the skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin.
Adds Dr. Navarro, “Since there are only a few injection points and only two treatments are needed —at four weeks apart—there is better compliance from the patient.”
Moreover, it doesn’t just work on the skin surface. It works beneath the skin to create a network of collagen and elastin fibers that support the skin’s structure. This network of fibers helps to improve the skin’s texture and firmness, giving it a more youthful appearance.
